Hi, my name is Karen, I am an experienced social worker who completed my Bachelor of Social Work at the University of Queensland. I have worked primarily in the community sector for the past 18 years empowering my clients and influencing change. I have experiences in biopsychosocial assessments and delivering evidence and strengths-based practice to individuals and families.
I have worked in housing and homelessness, property management, drug and alcohol, mental health and disability sectors. I have also worked in tenancy law helping clients achieve positive outcomes when faced with QCAT hearings. I am passionate about helping people connect with purpose and overcome barriers to reach their full potential. I am compassionate and have a non-judgmental approach enabling me to develop good working relationships with my clients. I will draw from various frameworks to ensure a flexible tailored approach that suits my client’s needs.
Many of my clients have been subjected to the criminal justice system. This has led me to studying law at the Queensland University of Technology. My dream is to advocate on behalf of underrepresented people and help them navigate through challenging situations. When not at work, I enjoy the country and working on my mini farm. I also enjoy renovating old properties and bringing them back to their former glory. I have a wealth of life experience that enables me to achieve my own goals in life…
