The perfect match

When my diary is filled with my lovely regular clients, and I get another message from Mable, (a provider many of you will know) saying:

Your profile has been spotted, and you seem to be the perfect match for my son.

I have learnt not rush into new jobs too quick. If it’s a last-minute job, and a one off, I may take it on, but in general I always agree on a meet and greet first. That way you get to see the people and you can talk about what they’re looking for.

High expectations

‍I am human, and not superwoman!

One client wanted me to do the following on shift:

pick her up at home
do shopping
do several batches of Thermomix meals, packed and labelled for fridge and freezer
vacuum the unit
change bedsheets
play with the therapy dog
clean the backyard from dog poo
put washing on and hang it up
clean the bathroom

…..and if there is spare time help her teach piano!

Yes I can do all these jobs, but will need more than 2 hours for such a list.

Good to do a reality check, as good meal prep takes time,especially in somebody else’s little unit kitchen with hardly any bench space … and the indoor dog really didn’t help neither.

The Super Cleaner

Talking about cleaning, have a look at these pictures of a place my friend the cleaner had to clean! Sadly, two siblings in state care felt extremely unsettled and got up in the middle of the night for mischief. Yes they have done cheeky things before, but not this extreme.

I didn’t believe her until I have seen some photos ……pantry, fridge and freezer got emptied….Vegemite placed on the light switches,Spaghetti cans emptied on top of the TV, bbq sauce placed on every wall in the house …. Black pepper, cheese and rice all over the floor too.

I will not write how much the two cleaners charged to clean up this mess, but it wasn’t cheap and not a nice job to do that’s for sure. My heart goes out to the carer too, as she was asleep while they got up for the mischief. It can be so hard to react the right way.

Getting help and advice from your team is very much needed in cases like this one.
